A multi-coil replacement for 2 popular Soap bar types. Designed to replace Factory pickups of B4 / Bc4 type & Bart Mk 1 & 2. Both Our J4 multi-coil types have identical internals, only the cover is different allowing for use on many popular Bass Guitars & Custom builds.

The J4 standard has a footprint of 108mm X 34mm, while the J4 mini has a footprint of 100mm X 29mm. Both these J4 types require a pickup cavity depth of 25mm to fit as the internal technology sits deeper in an instrument than a standard factory Soap bar unit. The trade-off for the deeper cavity is a sweeter tone, characteristic of all the multi-coil pickups we produce, with precise tonal definition & a pickup that is almost silent in operation due to the extra Earth shielding. As with our Popular 8 & 10 coil units, we have built the J4 Soap bar  pickup in 4 very different output types.

Type 1.

4 Coil Pseudo single coil, basically 4 coils wired in series for a clear & open tone associated with single coil pickups.

 

Type 2.

4 coil Humbucker, with coil split for series / parallel wiring options or direct output to connect to existing Bass preamps with a simple 2 wire hook-up.

 

Type 3.

4 coil, 1 Single coil per string for use with Lusithand's NFP special pre-amps to give a mind bending expansion of Tonal possibilities.

 

Type 4.

8 coil. 1 Humbucker per string (over 2 pickups, interconnected),  Also for use with a Lusithand NFP special pre-amp & other coil balancing pre-amps. The 1 humbucker per string / NFP special set-up gives a similar output as type 3 but with the Fat Humbucking output.

 

Type 1 & 2 above can be used both passively or via a regular type pre-amp while types 3 & 4 cannot be used passively & require a special coil balancing pre-amp to use on your Instrument.
